Saviah has commercialized “free5GC.” The “Saviah 5GC” empowers global private 5G market growth through a cost-effective solution.

Saviah Technologies, Inc. was founded by Dr. Jyh-Cheng Chen, the dean of the College of Computer Science, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) in 2021. The team has developed free5GC, the world's first open-source 5G core network based on 3GPP R15 international standard. This groundbreaking achievement fills the gap in Taiwan's 5G mobile communication network industry by providing a core network solution. The free5GC not only facilitates academic research of 5G core (5GC) network but also assists the industry in testing 5G network products and validating proof-of-concept (POC) projects.

The 5G core network serves as the brain of the 5G mobile network and plays a crucial role in enabling innovative applications such as AI, high-definition 8K video transmission, AR/VR, and C-V2X connected vehicles. Saviah Technologies has commercialized free5GC and developed Saviah's 5G core (5GC) network software called "Saviah 5GC." Saviah 5GC not only offers enhanced functionality and performance but also meets the end-to-end system integration requirements of domestic and international vendors, fostering cost-effective solutions for global private 5G network market.

Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Chen obtained his doctoral degree in the United States in 1998 and has been deeply involved in research on mobile networks ever since. From the research of 2.5G to the current 5G technology, he has witnessed the development trajectory of mobile networks over the past 20 years. In the past, the high technical barriers and expensive equipment costs of core networks made it difficult for researchers to obtain hands-on experience. Dr. Chen recalls that around year 2000, a set of core network equipment cost nearly billions of New Taiwan dollars. He expresses gratitude to a domestic telecom company that lent laboratory core network equipment to students, which inspired his idea of developing open-source software for academic use. Until 2014 the telecommunications industry gradually embraced open architectures and the disaggregation of software and hardware, that the opportunity to develop open-source core network software gradually emerged and became achievable.

Saviah Technologies Is A Promising Private 5G Core Network Startup, Aiming at Solving Pain Points for Industries.

After Dr. Chen publicly released free5GC in January 2019, it gained attention from domestic and international industries. After receiving strong collaborative interest from industries, Dr. Chen decided to establish Saviah Technologies, Inc. in April 2021. With an experienced core team at free5GC’s foundation, Saviah attracted more talented professionals in system software and successfully launched the Saviah 5G core (5GC) network software. Offering superior performance, reliability, and interoperability, Saviah 5GC is tailored for enterprise private network use, allowing agile and flexible customization to meet specific industrial requirements. It satisfies the needs of system suppliers and system integrators to integrate end-to-end solution, creating diverse commercial value for private 5G network applications for enterprises.

The Industry-Academia Collaboration Center at Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) offers ample resources to startups like Saviah, which is why Dr. Chen chose to establish a presence at NYCU. Furthermore, with the center's assistance, the company has gained opportunities to participate in exhibitions and marketing, thereby enhancing its visibility.
