The Petrochemical industry operates in high-risk environments with complex production lines, pipelines and extensive plant areas.

The Challenge

The Petrochemical industry sought to improve workplace safety, risk prevention, and operational visibility across its chemical manufacturing site.
The goal was to build an intelligent safety management framework that could support robotics, AI analytics, and real-time monitoring — all under a secure, high-performance network.

The Private 5G Network Solution 

To address these, Chunghwa Telecom deployed a private 5G network powered by Saviah 5GC, integrating 5G RANs and edge computing for UPC Technology’s chemical manufacturing site.
The deployment features two dedicated network slices powered by Saviah 5GC:
• Slice 1 for AMR Operations: Real-time inspections improve workplace safety and reduce manual exposure to hazardous areas.
• Slice 2 for AI-driven Hazard Detection: Smart cameras and real-time video analytics enable proactive risk management and incident prevention.

Beyond network slicing, the private 5G network also enables:

• Precision Staff Tracking – Enhances safety and operational efficiency through real-time personnel monitoring.
• Digital Twin Platform – Integrates IoT sensor data to visualize and optimize field operations.
